Say Hello to PRESIDENT/FOUNDER, ALEXIA!! Hailing from Spanish Town, Jamaica. Alexia has always been passionate about helping others, especially impressionable youths. After her move to the United States, during the summer months, she became a member of the Boys & Girls Club. The Boys & Girls Club was the neighborhood safe place to learn and grow. Without knowing it at the time, Alexia now knows it was the Boys & Girls Club that triggered her passion, commitment, and love to see juveniles succeed beyond their own expectations. She loved it there so much she volunteered there during her high school summers.
But, there was that one thing that gets Alexia riled up and that was any form of INJUSTICE especially CRIMINAL INJUSTICE. Wanting to be a small part of the change in this world, she applied to law school. Her love for criminal law prompted her to become volunteer legal intern with the Public Defender's Office Juvenile division until her 3rd year in law school.
Alexia is not shy to say that growing up watching Matlock also played a role in her wanting to become a criminal defense attorney. :) And after law school, she did just that! Alexia was a proud attorney for the Broward County Public Defender's Office. She represented juveniles tried as adults and seeing that made her heart cry. The number of juveniles in and out of the criminal justice system especially black males was disheartening. She would ask herself, how can we reduce juvenile delinquency? How can we stop children from going down the wrong path? Alexia wanted to do her part in resolving those questions, and with that, SOULZ ON A MISSION WAS BORN!
The joy she gets from making a difference in a child's life is unmatched. She understands she may not be able to save everyone but even if one student changes their life for the better, it is all worth it. She never forgets that smile or that extended hug of gratitude and appreciation. She's committed to this cause and hopes you join in on the journey.
